Specific to HuskyMail

  • Can I use IMAP or POP with the Huskymail system?
    • The UITS Department has enabled IMAP over secure SSL for use with the Huskymail Student Mail system. This will allow all students to use IMAP client mail programs (Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, etc...) to access their mail without connecting to the Huskymail Website. We do not support POP with the Huskymail system. For Instructions on configuring your Mail Program for IMAP, please click here.

  • Do I have to convert my email address to the @Huskymail address or can I still receive email @UConn.edu?
    • UITS has decided to keep the @Uconn.edu mail address for all students, in addition to the @huskymail.uconn.edu address. The @Uconn.edu address will act as a personal name address, which you can give out to people as a more convenient mailing address. They will mail to that address and it will automatically be forwarded to your @huskymail.uconn.edu address.

  • Can I change my e-mail address (Personal Name) for the Huskymail system?
    • Yes. You can use the UITS Helpdesk Mail Form to formally change your personal name for the Huskymail system. Just to note, however, the personal name request must be something similar to your real name. The UITS Accounts desk will not grant the name change for anything too different from your actual name.
  • Is e-mail filtering available with the Huskymail system?
    • The UITS department is currently investigating how to offer filtering within the Huskymail system. At this time we cannot offer filtering due to technical difficulties with server admin rights. However you may IMAP your Huskymail into an email client and set up filters via the email client or you may forward your Huskymail to another email address which would also allow you to set up filters of your email.

  • Can I upload my address book into Huskymail?
    • No, not at this time. However, based on feedback, we have found this to be a popular request and will investigate possible solutions.
